Application Security Engineer (m/f/d) MI-AA

As an Application Security Engineer (m/f/d) focused on AI Security and Security Testing, you will play a key role in strengthening secure software development at Kuehne+Nagel. As part of our global AppSec team, you will help develop modern security capabilities, address emerging AI security challenges, and improve how we test and secure applications. You will have the opportunity to shape security practices, introduce new technologies and approaches, and lead initiatives that strengthen application security across our global engineering organization.

• Perform hands-on security assessments and penetration testing of Kuehne+Nagel applications, while helping improve automated security testing.
• Support the secure use of AI in software development by building scalable security capabilities, defining guardrails, and helping engineering teams safely use AI-powered tools and workflows.
• Improve security testing for traditional and AI-enabled applications by evaluating new testing methods, AI-assisted techniques, and emerging security tools.
• Assess emerging AI threats and attack techniques, determine their relevance to Kuehne+Nagel, and turn findings into security requirements, standards, testing approaches, and practical guidance for developers.
• Provide expert guidance, training, and hands-on support to engineering teams and stakeholders to strengthen secure software development practices across the organization.
• Collaborate with the global AppSec team on a wide range of initiatives, with responsibilities shaped by your skills, experience, and business priorities.

• 5+ years of experience in Application Security, including hands-on security testing and test automation.
• Strong interest in AI and AI security, with experience securing and testing LLM-based applications, agentic AI systems, and AI-assisted software development. Familiarity with AI platforms, gateways, and tools such as LiteLLM, Amazon Bedrock, AgentCore, and AI security testing tools such as Strix is a plus.
• Ability to assess emerging security threats and attack techniques, including AI-specific risks such as indirect prompt injection and tool abuse, and turn them into practical security requirements, controls, testing methods, and best practices.
• Strong software engineering background, ideally in an enterprise environment, with strong Python skills and preferably experience with Java.
• Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to work effectively with international, cross-functional teams and align different stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills and fluent English, both written and spoken, with the ability to explain security concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
