International Business Development Manager - Food & Nutrition (m/f) – Lisbon

Our client is a fast-growing biotechnology startup and they are recruiting a Business Development Manager - Food & Nutrition , who will join the company's headquarters in Lisbon (Taguspark)

• Create and maintain an application research plan that demonstrates the functional and technical value of the company proteins in priority food and beverage formats.
• Design, conduct or direct bench-scale formulation studies and prototypes. Depending on the product and application, studies may assess solubility, dispersibility, compatibility, pH and ionic effects, heat and shear tolerance, physical stability, shelf life, texture, rheology, sensory performance and interactions witth other ingredients.
• Work with internal scientists and qualified external laboratories to assess protein integrity and bioactivity in relevant matrices, using methods and claims that are appropriate to the product's development and regulatory status.
• Develop customer-relevant concepts for powders, ready-to-mix products, beverages and other appropriate formats. Work on infant and early-life nutrition only within the applicable quality, safety and regulatory framework.
• Plan and support pilot, scale-up and customer trials. Define protocols and acceptance criteria, analyse results, identify technical risks and recommend practical next steps.
• Apply sound experimental design and data interpretation. Keep complete, traceable records of methods, materials, results, deviations and decisions in the company's approved systems.
• Convert results into useful technical materials, including application notes, formulation guidance, data summaries, customer presentations and inputs to product or regulatory documentation.
• Manage external application laboratories and research providers against agreed scope, cost, timing and quality requirements, while protecting confidential information and intellectual property.

• Significant experience in market development, business development, technical sales, food ingredients, specialised nutrition or food & beverage applications in the food sector.
• Excellent commercial, communication, project and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to engage confidently with customers, technical teams and senior executives.
• Excellent English and willingness to travel internationally.
• Availability to travel internationally (30% of the time).
